Join us as we write about grief with an eye toward the experience of the reader. Though writing in and of itself can be healing during times of grief, thinking about your story’s audience is not only a part of crafting compelling prose, but can also add a connective and relational layer to your words. And we have found that the kind of writing that heals the writer tends to be healing for the reader as well.
Each week we will gather to work with various writing prompts together. We will have time to write quietly and time to share our writing during the sessions. Although there are no writing requirements outside of the live sessions, we encourage you to write or journal throughout the week, and we want you to know that we are available in the in between times if you need extra care throughout this series.
We want to honor this precious small group of fellow grievers by committing to attend each session for the duration of the series, though we understand it might not always be possible. We ask that you only register if you expect to be able to attend most of the sessions.
In order to preserve the uniquely intimate and personalized nature of this offering, space for this event will be limited, and registration is required to attend.

YG2D member and Oregon Book Award finalist Nick Jaina has published three books. For almost a decade he has taught memoir writing workshops online and in person, exploring dozens of different tools and techniques to open up and create the best story possible from our own lives. He is excited to bring those ideas to the emotionally supportive environment of the YG2D workshop.
Chelsea Coleman is an SF Bay Area singer-songwriter and the Creative Director & Cofounder of YG2D, where she has been helping create and hold space for others to creatively express themselves through the touchpoint of our shared impermanence since 2012. As a singer-songwriter and storyteller she leads by example, by alchemizing her experiences of loss and complex grief into lyrics and melodies that resonate with others and meet them in their vulnerability with a sense of belonging and inspiration.
