You're Going to Die offers another mortally conscious entertainment experience, proudly presenting great artists as they deserve to be presented: in the concert context of acknowledging their musical mortal magic. This show is a part of an ongoing monthly concert series, the 3rd Thursday of every month, held in the container of our city's beautifully historic San Francisco Columbarium & Funeral Home...

Tomo Nakayama has consistently created music that is complex, nuanced, & emotionally compelling. His decade of work both as a solo artist & as frontman in his chamber-pop band Grand Hallway has been praised by NPR, New York Times, & KEXP. Known for his crystalline high-tenor voice, intricate fingerpicking, cinematic production style, & simple, poetic lyrics imbued with warmth & humanity, He was Artist in Residence at Seattle’s Town Hall, where he wrote & recorded his solo debut album, Fog On The Lens with producer Yuuki Matthews (The Shins, Sufjan Stevens), which spent 8 weeks on the CMJ Top 200 & was named “Album of the Month” by Seattle Met. His latest album, Pieces of Sky, finds Nakayama venturing further into the digital chamber folk sound of his debut album while incorporating ambient synths, dream pop atmospherics & analog drum machines into the mix. They reflect his experiences of touring solo across the US, Japan, & Europe, & a year spent busking & people watching at Seattle Tacoma International Airport. - https://www.tomonakayama.com/

The Hollywood Hills-born daughter of a horror filmmaker & sister of a cult comedian, Foxtails Brigade front-girl Laura Weinbach grew up in a household that embraced eccentricity. Her next-door neighbors were circus contortionists with emus & fang-toothed monkeys as pets & her childhood activities included snail hunting & spying on celebrity neighbors like Slash, Ice-T, & Larry from Perfect Strangers. Laura’s upbringing is present everywhere in Foxtails Brigade, from the lyrical imagery to the hand-drawn artwork & sophomoric Instagram cartoons. - http://www.hungryflies.org/

VENUE: Located off the beaten path, at the end of a residential cul-de-sac in the Richmond District, the copper-domed, Neo-Classical columbarium is a hidden gem & an architectural wonder. The structure features a large rotunda, mosaic tile floors, ornate stained-glass windows & a domed skylight. A colossal 45-foot atrium is surrounded by intricate balconies, with each of the 4 floors providing a glimpse into San Francisco’s history. Big thanks to Brian Kestenblatt & the staff of San Francisco Columbarium & Funeral Home for working so wonderfully to make special events like this happen!

PARKING: There is a parking lot, but space is limited. Public transportation is recommended.

COMFORT: The space was built in the late 1800s, so there is no heat, but a limited number of blankets will be available for use. Dress warmly!
